Gwendolyn and her son have worked together with the New Hope Volunteer Fire Department for 23 years, giving of their time freely to provide fire service, education and other services to community residents.
They have numerous certifications in fire service, Red Cross disaster assistance, shelter management and other areas of fire prevention and safety. All classes have been at their expense and on their own time. Thousands of hours have been donated by these two people over the past 23 years.
Together, this mother/son team has saved several lives and thousands of dollars in property, providing a 24/7 service to the county. Their skill and bravery truly make them "volunteers, the unpaid professionals."
