A loose pit bull cornered a little girl and her dog while they were out for a walk in our neighborhood. No one wanted to get near the dog because he was vicious. Scott came out of his house and saw the dog lunging at the little girl. Without worrying for his own safety, he ran and jumped over his picket fence and dove onto the dog, allowing the little girl to escape unharmed.

Scott was injured but recovered just fine. He refused any recognition for his efforts, shrugging it off by saying anyone would have done the same thing. Though Scott may believe that, it is clearly not true; there were 10 of us out there and not one person attempted Scott's daring rescue.

In rescuing that little girl, Scott performed a brave and selfless act that I feel should be recognized. In addition, Scott is an extraordinary help to me and my family personally. I have heart problems and when I am ill, Scott taxis my wife back and forth from the hospital and helps with our needs. He is always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needs it and is happy to do so.
