Fighting Homelessness to Improve Life
Schonna Green
Stuart, Fla.

After purchasing 2.5 acres to build housing for the homeless in Martin County, Florida, Schonna Green has developed housing and supportive programs that make her a hero of monumental proportions.

Schonna founded the first homeless Shelter in Martin County in 2002. The shelter is called Mothers and Infants Striving for Success, or MISS. Today, Schonna empowers the community by exhibiting leadership, innovation, determination and dedication. Her abilities to foster relationships that create bridges to housing and homeownership are extraordinary and commendable.

Schonna volunteers time to other organizations by offering training sessions and technical assistance in the area of homeless support. Whenever called upon for her expertise, she always rises to the challenge, often working more than 80 hours per week.

Always giving, Schonna is a humanitarian with a vision who strives to empower the less fortunate of society. She is diligent in her delivery of services to the community's most needy. She sits on State Boards that advocate for the underprivileged in need of housing. She is a true hero.
