Through the non-profit organization Helping Hand, Lois Kohan offers food and medical care for senior citizens and unemployed single parents.

Twelve years ago, Lois founded Helping Hand to help the poor, hungry, and otherwise disenfranchised.

Since then, Lois also has initiated an ecumenical Parish Nurse program called “Helping Hillsdale.” This organization features a "Fitness and Fellowship" exercise group. The program enables participants to receive free blood pressure checks and flu shots, too.

Lois is a resourceful, creative and caring person who attempts to fill the needs of others. She is a true hero.
