Maria originally created the non-profit organization, Children’s Lifesaving Foundation (CLF), to secure the health care needs for at-risk children. Maria has expanded the Foundation’s mission over the years to one of securing housing and jobs for selected families in the extended Los Angeles area.
CLF’s four components––The Spring and Summer Camp Enrichment Program, Project Angel Wings Program, Kids Helping Kids-Project Imagination, and Adopt-A-Family Program––have created opportunities for families-at-risk to learn, to grow, and to reach their potential. These CLF programs provide everything from educational enrichment programs for shelter-bound children, to helping secure permanent housing, counseling, and follow up for homeless families.
Maria not only transforms the lives of thousands of children and their families, but also the lives of her volunteers and donors. I first met Maria through my son Nathan, who was then attending Pepperdine University. He volunteered his time to create CLF’s communications and was moved by Maria’s commitment to community outreach. Maria has not only motivated many potential donors and volunteers to give their time and resources, but also her entire family. Working together through CLF, they provide new hope and opportunities to those parts of our community most in need.
Through her chosen path of service, her sensitivity, and commitment, Maria is a true heroine of our times. Maria D’Angelo’s work at CLF isn't a job description––it is a living practice of making the changes you want to see in the world. THIS is her life, her commitment, and her work.
