Terry Hogg owns two companies, Hogg Auto Training Academy and Mister Volvo Autos. For the past several years, Terry has often used his business skills to help the less affluent and the less fortunate in numerous ways. First, a little bit about his primary business: Terry specializes in the repair and sale of used Volvo automobiles. He purchases used vehicles, fixes them up, and then sells/finances them to individuals who cannot obtain traditional financing. He makes the cars available to “good people”–– people not necessarily of great means but hardworking folks who hold jobs––and great promise. Terry bases all of his financing decisions solely on his intuition and desire to help those with potential succeed. He takes a chance on people, and he has not lost yet.
Drawing upon his expertise, Terry has started a state-approved training academy to educate former prison inmates in auto repair skills––especially those needed for working on the well-built and sophisticated Volvos. He has opened his academy to all individuals, but its special emphasis is in providing sought-after abilities and even basic job skills to former inmates, helping them to achieve a productive life after they have paid their debt to society.
Terry’s efforts don’t stop with teaching automotive repair skills. He also teaches his students computer and life skills, and he follows up, too. If Terry cannot provide his graduates a job after they complete their training, he takes the extra effort to help place them in jobs throughout the community. Terry has worked to help the less fortunate, even before starting his academy. For example, he has helped the homeless, many of whom are substance abusers. He continues to collect food and distributes it to the needy on a regular basis. He has helped homeless people on drugs get into proper treatment facilities.
Terry Hogg continues to contribute to his community, whether giving hardworking people a chance to share a piece of the American dream or giving the forgotten, the homeless, and the hungry nourishment, opportunity, and above all, hope.
