At fifty years old and after having raised six children of her own, Alice Johnson adopted three young children to keep the siblings united and out of foster care. She intervened on behalf of the children as their parents had become drug addicts and could no longer properly care for their own.
Alice even supported the parents while they enrolled in a drug treatment program at Hope Haven. But her efforts to help families in crises did not stop with this intervention. She also opened up her home to a homeless family of four, nourishing the family and providing food, clothing, and a safe, stable home for the children. She helped the family gain employment, housing, and transportation.
Alice Johnson works with disabled adults, and she always looks for ways to help struggling students. She even provided a house full of new furniture to a family who lost their home to fire, but did not have insurance to rebuild. True to form, Alice gave them the money to start anew.
Alice Johnson feels it is her duty to help those who do not have the blessings she has had in her life. Her many, many acts of kindness not only helps individuals, but also helps rebuild and restore values, morals, and above all hope to a fragile community.
